I replaced it 3 months ago. Gauge broke 2 days ago. Before break, it was going into the redzone.
Yesterday I bled the cooling system. Seem the t-stat isnt opening. Upper radiator hose feels very full (pressurized).
I live in hawaii, no need for the heater.
My question is, Can I just take the t-stat out and leave it out without damage?

I'm not sure that's a wise idea. I don't know about the fluid dynamics through the system, but I can tell you running without a thermostat will result in the car taking forever to warm up and will throw a code. Why do something so stupid when a thermostat is like 5 bucks?

I'm going to say NO. I have nothing to back this up but it just sounds like its going to mess something up.

Is like to say I'm far from stupid. your comment is what's stupid. I don't care if the tstat costed 100 bucks, money is no factor. as I stated, I just checked the tstat.
I'm gonna rip it open again. Can I take it out without codes bein thrown was my question, your personal feelings and negativity is not warranted. If you don't know, don't respond.

Umm.... a) I never called you stupid and b) I answered your question

I was speculating as to whether or not the changes in the fluid dynamics would result in other problems...

If the car came with it....its there for a reason. If the T-stat isnt there, it will throw codes. period.

And as for Iffy...I enjoy the big worded comebacks..mighty dissapointed. LOL Laughing

Have a nice night. Cool

Forrest Gump said,"Stipid is what stupid does" So If I do something Stupid, That makes me a stupid person right? Im sorry If I came off harsh.
Its just so hard to find help without criticism.
I will try putting another New t-stat in.
Will these codes only show on a OBD scanner or will my HUD show and error also.

Again people, If you dont know, dont bother.
Again, No offense.
Aloha

When I awoke this morning I was sad. I thought that if Iffy was to shed a little light onto someone's remark that all would be well again in the land of Dave....I was wrong.

Plenty of smart people do stupid things (myself included)... so the act of doing something stupid does not make you stupid. A habit of doing stupid things makes you stupid... There was no criticism, just pointing out the fact that going through the effort and foregoing a 5 dollar part is a poor choice.

Leaving out the t-stat will throw a code that shows on the dash as well as likely cause your fuel economy to take a dump because your engine will take a while to reach closed loop operation. http://www.obd-codes.com/p0128

Perhaps I should shelve the kinder, gentler IffyG and go back to speaking my mind. Laughing
