I took the screen out of the throttle body!!(i got bored..lols) i also changed my air intake setup such its much straighter, took the accordian hose out also and stuck my 3'' abs tubing allllllll the way in so the rivets arent creating turbulance.
started it up and ran really smooth i was surprised, let it warmup and made sure its rpms werent jumping. all was good, i gave it a few shots of gas and deffinetly more throttle response. i havent took it for a drive yet so when i do ill report back and tell you guys how its doin, i kept the screen just incase.

Is it actually recommended? I had problems with my hvtb when the screen wasn't on. MAF readings were a bit jumpy and I was getting a running lean code until i put it on from my old tb

They have on their site that they recommend you remove it, but if your car doesn't like it to put it back.

well took it for two 20 minute drives, deff more throttle response, think there might be lil more powa..probably would notice more if i didnt already have a aftermarket air intake on it, tonight im replacing my ractive air filter for a big ass k&n air filter. tell you all if ractive is crap or not.

Any increase in throttle response from removing the MAF screen is all in your head...

Im With Stupid especially if you clear the trims before hand.

Removing that screen is a pretty dumb move. It straightens the air so the MAF will read correctly.

Isn't it basically the last stop for bits of stuff that may bypass a broken seal or damaged air filter?

Its first purpose is obviously to straighten the air to get good MAF readings, but yes that is the second purpose. Removing it (unless there is a good reason) is kinda stupid

I personally dont care but you should read this:

http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degr.....screen.htm

or something else about it before you keep it out.
