I will lose the "personalization features" that are controlled through the radio of course, but is there anything specific to the impala (04) that I need to know before doing the install?

I just have this link to go with -
http://impalahq.naioa.com/HowTo/Dash.html

thanks guys

Use my write up for getting power through the fire wall and a ground wire in the trunk ( http://www.naioa.com/v2/module.....mp;t=34277 ). Everything else is pretty straight forward, just be sure to keep your power and signal wires on opposite sides of the car to avoid interference issues and you should be golden. Also, if you have a newer Pioneer head unit you might want to go ahead and do this to the RCA jacks to minimize the whining issues most people have. Good luck.

This isnt going well - I'm getting 3.74 volts out of what I think is the constant - the wiring on the impala is crap. two orange/two black/ etc the diagram for the impala that I found doesn't seem to match blah blah blah lol

http://www.modifiedlife.com/20.....g-diagram/

Ive got what I think is the constant, remote and ground wired but the h/u won't turn on.

You aren't going to find a switched 12v lead to power the radio on behind the radio. Unless you tapped something in the fusebox or got another wire (the stock stereo is triggered by the Class 2 databus). Are you using an aftermarket chime retention harness of just hacking up the stock wires?

Ya, you need to use the interface. It is plug and play. May be expensive but it works with no headaches

You don't have to use an interface, it just makes the job a lot easier. It's entirely possible to wire it up with a cheap harness and an add-a-fuse.

It's something like this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1.....+interface

If you look around you can find something that will work for around 40 bucks or so.

Edit: this is the one I have

Thanks, I would like to get it done without that interface, it'll probably be twice that price in Canada.
