My upper mount keeps coming loose. I tighten it down and not a day or two later it's moving around. Here's some pics of what I'm referring too.

This is the bolt that comes loose.

I can move the mount back and forth by hand. What can I do to not make the screw back out?

I've never had that issue, but try putting some loc-tite on the bolt and re-screw it in?

I didn't spend much time in the engine bay of my old 3.4 grand am... in the second pic, it looks like there is an opening for an additional bolt below the one you're saying is loosening out? If it's backing out that fast, you have some other problem here.

Missing bolt, damaged bolt threading or partially stripped block threading?

If you're adding loctite, you should probably use the hi-temp stuff. But I would expect you have some other issue and treating the symptom is not going to serve you as well as fixing the root issue.

Looking at it you might be right about the second bolt. Didn't notice that. Embarassed I can only guess how this happened. It's what I get for letting a bunch on good ol' boys work on my car. Evil or Very Mad Thanks everyone for their input.

Upon further inspection I found what looks too be two bolts missing. I'm going to try AZ and see it they have teh bolts.

Well I just went up to Advanced and got two more bolts. I could only get a total of two bolts in the mount as the third one is right behind the t-stat. I really don't feel like taking that off today so it's going to have to work for now. Sad

Well, two is better than one Wink

Hopefully the threads or hole for the single remaining bolt weren't damaged .

Wow... wonder why two of the bolts are missing (especially the one behind the t-stat housing). I can't imagine that one backed out and fell off. Did you buy the car used? Wonder if someone took stuff apart and forgot about the engine mounts and only put one in place after putting it all back together.

Yes I got it used back in Nov of 08. Then close to about 2 years ago a head gasket blew. Towed it to a shop had them fix it. A few months later I noticed that the crossover pipe heat shield was missing, engine mount bolts were missing, wire harness clamp to the UIM was missing and my thermostat bypass hose is leaking now and they broke the clips that hold the throttle and cruise cable on the bracket. Attach by zip ties now.
