i own a 2002 impala with the 3.8 naturally aspirated, and i want to supercharge it. is it as simple as swapping the upper intake manifold (the black thing that has tube type ovals on top) with the supercharger? on all of the 3800 series II engines with a supercharger, it looks like it does just that
It's slightly more complicated. Do a search for Top Swap and you will find several useful threads. There are several members who took detailed notes when they did their swaps (Sabrewings and Nightryder come to mind).
Protip: If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it.
It includes a lot more than just slightly imo. You basically need the parts from the heads up from a supercharged(l67/l32 motor). This includes:
Supercharger, Lower intake manifold, heads, ICM bracket with tensioner and idler, standoff idler with idler pulley, harmonic balancer, throttle body, map sensor, fuel rail and other little things like gasket kit, head bolts and a few other things. See nightryder and sabrewings thread. they have a lot of details.

Next time you get pulled over and you know you have illegal tint Follow these instructions: Tie a string around your power window fuse, and after you roll down your drivers window yank the fuse, which will render your windows inoperable. They can't test the film if the meter can't fit over it.
