So doing an oil change and was thinking of dropping the pan. Is there a gasket in there I would need to replace. Wanted to just clean the bottom of the pan and get all the crap out. Is this a good idea or can I be asking for problems by opening it up? Thanks in advance. Oh... its a 2001 3.4

You can't drop the oil pan without supporting the engine from above and dropping the engine cradle

And there is no point anyway...

I thought you could undo a bunch of screws and take it out. So much for that idea. Thanks. Very Happy

A lot of work is an understatement. I've needed to have the oil pan gasket replaced on my car for the better part of three years and the only reason it's getting done is because my transmission crapped out and the cradle will be off the car.
