I have a 2003 LA1 Impala. 130K miles. The traction active light comes on and I hear the sound of the BCM , the light comes on on the info panel, some times the break peddle modulates. It happens on dry pavement at slow speeds and sometimes standing still. any ideas

it could be a bad sensor coming off one of your wheel bearing hubs i had a crap one right out of the box just unhooked and covered the end for a future new bearing. my brake pedal would pulse a little and make some kind of wierd noise only after i put in the hub and stopped 2 kms down the road when i unhooked it.

Probably a bad sensor, which likely means a new hub is in your future. I am having similar issues but I am putting off the replacement.

Right. I was thinking along those lines-ABS related.

the wheel sensors on these cars are prone to failure, as stated above, may have one either going out or already done.

BTW, the BCM doesnt make any noise. You are more than likely hearing the ABS kick in. The BCM is just a computer module.

everyday for the last 2 weeks the ABS / TRACK CONTROL has acted up. It rained today and the car drove perfect. I am wondering if it might be a dirty connection. Possibly where the wiring harness plugs into the wheel bearing.

That would be great if it was just dirt or a bad connection.

Seems like it was the connectors. Found a 30 year old can of radio shack TV TUNER cleaner. How many people out there remeber tv tuners ? disconected the front wheel bearing sensor connectors, squirted some tuner cleaner in both male and femaile connectors. Conected and disconnected about 5 times. Been driving all week w/o the daily traction active light coming on or the sound of the ABS activaiting.

don't forget to do all 4, the 2 on the back wheels might be easiest if you take off the wheels. Make sure the car is propperly supported.
