And a reminder when you hear an uncommon noise don't drive it, especially when another noise comes up. And if your driving you should always have a cell phone

lmao if i heard scraping id pull over.. then if i couldnt go over 100km/h and heard scraping AND ticking i would pull over right away. there is always time to stop(dont matter where) put your hazards on and do a quick circle check, garuntee if you would of pulled over and got out you would of atleast smelt burning tire and stopped there.or atleast crawled w/e you need to go.

Ha I suppose I could have pulled over but nobody is stopping to help you in the pitch dark on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere. Can't afford a cellphone.

still left you stranded either way, least if you would of pulled over could of saved your tire and lots of scrtching and scraping against the road/ruining paint/bottom of the car..and like i said if you knew the issue by pulling over you could of limped where ever ya needed to go.
either way you live you learn.

I had a similar thing happen to my old Windstar. It was way out of warranty, but there was a bulletin on it, and the Dealer replaced both front springs for free. Might want to call and check. Scared the heck out of me. Scary to think it can happen on our Impalas.

Your lucky your lack of obsevation didnt make jerk or side or fish tail into oncoming traffic and kill somebody or even a kid ??? Hopefully you realize the extremes of hearing your car scraping or whatever after hitting big holes ...... This sounds like something that could have easily been stopped with common sense? Glad your okay

You can get a no-contract cell for cheap & use it for emergencies only... such as that incident. Along w/the other common sense brought fourth here so far, it wouldn't hurt to carry a flashlight in your vehicle at all times. I have a small one in the door pocket that's fairly bright for it's size. Will work just fine for locating things in/around/under the car at night. Additionally in my case, since I'm a flashlight freak, if I'm out at night or know I will be, I generally have a flashlight with me at all times. I get funny looks... until someone needs a flashlight, then all of a sudden I'm a life saver Bow
