First of all, let me explain the scenario. My friend has a 2000 Chevy Impala which was stranded for some time in winter, 3 months to be exact. So, it did not start. We decided to use my car for Jump starting it.
We connected cables correctly. Tried to start after charging the battery for couple minutes. It really did not do much, so we thought that let it sit and charge for some time (30-40 minutes). My car (Donor) was running whole time.
So, we thought to give it another try. The batteries were still connected, my car was still running and when we tried to start Impala (Receiver), it made one noise, heat shield came off flying and some part (cover or something) broke. I could see the blade kind of parts which might rotate. I am not sure what that thing is. It's not starter because starter is a wire coils etc and that was separate.
Can anyone please tell me what really happened? Did we charge it extra or was it jammed? what was that component.
