Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but didn't see a better section.
Used the search in various ways but came up empty.
Driving home tonight I engaged the cruise control. I felt the gas pedal lower about 1/2" - 1", after disengaging the CC the pedal just stayed there, so now my gas pedal has about 1" less of travel and has a lot of room upwards (if i put my foot below the pedal and lift it it goes a long way and it's just loose).
Why the heck do you figure the CC screwed it up? And more importantly, how can it be fixed?? I noticed the pedal also has a bit of play left to right.
also idk if you knew this or not, but when you use CC the gas pedal will still move actually. As the cruise needs to add more throttle sometimes the gas pedal will go down, but i should return back up when it lets off. I guess in short, you might have felt it or seen it go down, but it is very possible that its working fine and you just didn't know that the pedal still moves when your in cruse.
Today's the first day I've had daylight to look at it. Turns out it was the simplest thing., nothing was broken thankfully. The throttle cable had slipped from its original position down on the black part (don't know its name) causing the pedal to have more loose room inside. I keep wondering why did the CC cause the cable to fall from its original place. I'll see if it happens again when I drive later.
You didn't pull up on the gas pedal, when the CC was engaged, by any chance?
Not at all. As soon as I engaged I felt it drop, disengaged and it stayed there.
Btw, is there any "clean and nice" way of making the round tip of the cable bigger so it wont slip again? This time it was caught lower on the plastic, but I'm afraid if it happens again it'll slip completely
