Hey all,

Long time lurker here. This morning was a bad day for my 04 impala. On the way to work, I first noticed that my left turn signal wouldn't work. I would hit it and the green arrow would stay lit and no flashing. From there, I pulled up behind a car and noticed my passenger side headlight was not working (I have an after market HID kit and had no problems with it for the past 2 years) Finally, while driving my traction control turns it self off and will not allow for me to turn it back on. A few minutes later the Service Traction Control message pops up. All this within a 20mile commute to work.

Now i tried to fix the lighting problems individually with no avail. The ballasts on the HID kit are getting power and the bulb is not the problem (non HID hi-beams still work). Also, turn signal bulbs are all working correctly as the flashers work perfect, just not the left turn signal.

From my searching, it sounds like others were having these types of problems with a bad BCM so that was my initial thought. Any thoughts/help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Doesn't sound like a BCM issue at all...

The Traction Control is is a bad wheel hub, a bad wheel speed sensor, or bad wiring to the hub speed sensor

Did you swap the ballast from side to side and see if it follows the ballast or the side of the car?

Do you have a relay harness installed with the HIDs? If not, you may have fried the factory wiring.

The headlights always have power and the ground side is switched to turn them on/off. So you should check for ground on one side of the bulb. You could have a bad MFS

I did not swap the ballasts yet but will once I get my car back in to a warm garage. I do have a relay harness for the HID's and have had one from the start. I will also look in to the MFS and see if that could be the culprit. I will also recheck fuses just to be sure.

Just odd for these issues to all arise on the same morning within 10mins of each other. Thats why I pointed blame at a BCM as I know they can cause strange problems.

While you're at it, check the ground where it attaches to the driver's side fender.

Finally got my car in the nice warm garage. Here's my update.

I pulled the HID system completely and went back to ugly standard bulbs for now. The headlights are now working 100% correct.

My left turn signal still isn't functioning correctly but once in a while it does seem to work. (about 90% of the time it's malfunctioning) Most of the time when i use it, the green arrow stay's lit and no blinking function happens while the right turn signal works.

Also, my trac control turns off by itself still and the service traction control light comes on. What's interesting is that when the left turn signal is working correctly, the traction control seems to have no issues (stays on and no warning light) so it leads me to believe that these 2 issues are some how related.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
