My car had issues with hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear whenever the engine was warm. and after quick stops, the tansmission would slip and make a huge clunking noise. I thought I was screwed. buying a new car and this happens. Turns out it was a pressure control solenoid. $50 part. I got boned from the school garage. they charged me for 12 quarts of oil and the bill came to $300. not bad. If your impala is having this issue. run some gumout through the transmission and it should help clean it out until you are able to get it fixed. Is this a popular issue?

Very popular issue and alot of times, P1811 isn't just the PCS, it's also leaky valve in the valve body (also very common)

It's also well documented that running fresh fluid in a tranny that hasn't seen regular fluid changes tends to hasten it's demise (due to fresh detergents breaking down the clutches)

Hopefully your truly was just the PCS...

So far it has ran like a top (knock on wood) since I've replaced the PCS. If it acts up again I will have to look into that. Thanks!
