I spent most of my day yesterday trying to figure out what the crap this sound could be.

It sounds like a tick or a click, kinda. Sounds like a dry rubber bushing rubbing up a tiny bit on a dry metal surface.

It only happens when I turn the wheel in either direction. It does not happen at all when the front wheels are lifted off the ground.

At first I thought it was the U joints on the column. Nope, tried spraying them with grease. It did nothing.

It sounds like it echos through the whole engine compartment. It's not loud at all but noticeable.

I kinda want to say the upper strut mounts. But, it just seems a bit odd and it sort of sounds closer to the lower end of the suspension.

Any thoughts?

I too am getting a weird noise. Im getting a swirling noise coming from the passenger side of my car when i drive. I can hear it from the inside of the car when the music is turned down and kind of gets louder the faster i drive. It too isnt loud but i tend to notice any new noises in my car and very paranoid about them. It may be the bad bearing a shop told me was going out around december of last year also.

Well..

Lets work it backwards.

Ball Joints,
Tie rods (Inners and/or Outers)
Control arm busings,
Strut mounts.
Dont think I'm missing any bushing here.

But I were to guess. I would say the strut mount because it's only when you turn the wheel.

Look they do exist Smile

It only does it while I am turning the wheel in either direction.

It really sounds like the sway bar bushings, but how would it squeak when I am turning the wheel?

Whiring is most likely caused by a bearing, I would say.

Honestly, you have a car that's ten years old. You are going to have squeaks and rattles at this point.

I hear ya, but this just came out of nowhere and it's a bit more noticeable.

I think I narrowed it down to the strut mounts, I think.

I'd be guessing strut mounts also.
