Was warming my car up after work this morning and was wondering where the oil level should be in our cars? Just did an oil change 2 weeks ago and used 5 quarts of royal purple. This is where mines was....
Just letting you know. Either way, I don't pay much attention to it other than knowing that it goes up when I get on the gas and drops back when idling. Since it's not displaying any units, its more or less a vestigial gauge to me.
Protip: If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it.
That's an oil pressure gauge... not an oil level gauge.
Thats what i meant to say
Lawlz! It would be very accurate when your oil goes to zero Other than that, it really doesnt say anything. A lot of cars have "sensors" and gauges that are little more than on/off switches with the gauge showing either a "good" reading or nothing.
A mechanical gauge would be best if you want an actual accurate reading.
