Car: 01 Monte Carlo SS

My Dad's Monte Carlo Has the Air Bag light on, Lower Tire Pressure MIL illuminated on the Cluster. The Headlights are not turning on when it becomes dark, and have to be manually turned on. His turn signals also intermittently do not work.

When he came over this morning with the Tire Pressure Low MIL and when I checked the tires, they were all good. I then proceeded to try and reset the Tire Pressure MIL. I did the lights from off to park 3x in 5sec and it did not clear. I tried doing it through the head unit and the option for the Tire Pressure was not listed anywhere in the menu. I then checked for codes with his Hypertec programmer: 2 codes stored:

U1301 - High Voltage Deteced on Class II Databus longer than 3seconds
B3128 - Door Locks

I cleared the codes and drove it around for a while, and it came back with four codes when I checked after the drive cycle:

#1 - B0043 - Airbag Frontal [Deploy?]
#2 - U1301 - High Voltage Detected on Class II Databus
#3 - B3128 - Door Lock
#4 - C1245 - Tire Pressure

We have been battling these issues for a while now. We had thought at first it was the BCM going out, so it continued for a few months so we finally replaced the BCM. New BCM has been in about 1 months now and the issues have returned.

FYI, we had a local shop replace and program the BCM.

History of issue(s):

I had forgotten about his Hypertec programmer (to read the BCM Codes) prior to replacing the BCM.

One time prior to replacing the BCM, almost all of the lights came on the cluster illuminated while driving. Most noteable, the TCS lights, ebrake light, when I knew the ebrake was not engaged.

I checked for codes with my OBDII scanner and only found a couple that could not have been accurate at the time, unfortunately I did not write them down at the time. After clearing them the cluster lights were still coming on.

For giggles, I pulled the battery and after only the TCS lgiht remained illuminated, and when I tried for giggles to see if TCS would engage, it did not when I spun the tires.

Brought it the shop and they tried reseated a connector and it worked again for a while. We thought the BCM, so we replaced it. It has been about a 3 weeks and the issues above are happening now.

Since we already replaced the BCM, and given the U1301 code, I would be lead to believe that there is indeed a short somewhere.

Thoughts? I am lost, other than to start looking for a short.

You could have a short on your Class 2 data circuit somewhere. There's a splice pack right near the BCM, I would start there...

Did the shop install a brand new BCM, or a remanufactured BCM? The remans are known to fail...I would check your paperwork to see if you have any warranty on the parts or labor.
