I went over a bump in the road going about 50. Suddenly power was gone but only for a split second. In fact, I only know it was gone because the gauges all jumped and then the battery light came on, then the security light. Power restored almost immediately but the security light stayed. I reached my destination about a mile later and turned the car off. I turned it back on (it hesitated but then started) and the security message was gone.

Was this just a loose terminal or bad wiring on the alternator or what?

Yeah Arv that's what I'm thinking. Also, I'd there an actual how to for changing the power steering pump? I found a bunch of threads about it but no actual how to write-up. I'm changing it tomorrow, along with the front hubs. I have read some people say you need to tilt the engine on the 3.8 and others say you don't. Is there a confirmation I can get on this? Thanks.

It actually sounds like you knocked one of your main fusible links under the hood loose. I would check how tightly seated all your fuses, relay, and fusible links in the fuse panels under the hood are.

Lol maxi fuses? Y Impala just turned into a chick product. So what's a maxi fuse? I know there are two fuse boxed by the battery. Are you talking about the large ocular black fuses that say 80?

And is there any word on the PS pump question I asked earlier?

Wondering if there is an impact cut out. My old 1990 Mustang had an inertia switch in the trunk that would drop out the electrical system in a crash. It was a circuit breaker IIRC and could be tripped by a good jolt. Reason I was told was to shut off the electric fuel pump in a crash for safety.

Well, I think I found the problem. The connector wasn't all the way into the rubber/plastic part that the battery port screws through (side port, not top). Anyway, I pushed it all the way up and it is seated properly now. There wasn't a very good connection so I'm hoping that was it. Thanks guys.
