Ok, well I have been having some problems with my radio reception. I had an aftermarket radio in and I slowly started losing my radio receptions. I even put my Factory stereo back in and its a little but its still pretty bad. I can barely get a radio station that is 20 miles away from me. I can hear it but it cuts in and out all the time. Now if there some kind of device between the Radio and the window antenna that might have gone bad? If so what is it called and how much? I would like to get this replaced as soon as possible.

Impala radio reception sucks Crying or Very sad
The antenna is in the back window, to get at it you have to remove the back seat and left trim pannel. There is a small booster there.Check to see if the lines in the window are not broken anywhere. You said you have changed radios, make sure the ant plugin is in good shape.

How many watts is your radio for your fire dept. pushing? Maybe your car radio is picking up interference from your responder radio. Is it on all the time?

My FD radio puts out 72 watts. I have never had a problem with it before. It doesnt even cut out the radio when I key it up. I know some people with their cars, this happened. Thats why I am kind of wondering what it might be. I have access to a Junk Impala and if its the booster then I can just grab it, I just need some ideas on what it might be. I already checked the Antenna cable and everything is fine. Makes good contact.

Had the same problem. First try this. On the back window, on the driver's side, there are 2 connections. The one closest to the trunk is the defroster. The one higher up (closer to the driver) is for the antenna. My connection will not stay together. You can buy the whole antenna module for about 30 bucks on Ebay, and that might be the problem, but first check this connection. It is a black rectangle about 1/2" x 1/2" x 2" long. Just gently push the wires in from each end. This may solve the problem, if not then the next logical step might be the antenna module.

Ive heard people say that their window tint messes with the antenna on the back window, not sure how much that helps

Metallic tint(?) can do this from what I've heard.

This problem was fixed back in December. The problem was the little back box that the rear defroster connects to. Replaced that and I have better reception even with the rear defroster on.

I too have horrible reception.

Through the whole dial, I can get about 7 radio stations. And it wont pick up any AM Stations.

My wifes Saturn picks up 25 + stations and about 10 AM stations.

yep, sure does.

I had tint done on my '04, they used the 3M metallic tint and afterward the AM reception is complete crap. When I questioned the choice of metallic tint which they admitted destroys radio reception, I was told that the non-metallic stuff will turn blue/purple after a while and start to bubble and that the metallic stuff wouldn't do that.

Assuming they're telling even a little bit of the truth, I guess its trading one evil for another. I do listen to AM occasionally for one of my favorite financial shows and local traffic info, and I guess I just have to grin and bear it.

I replaced the antenna module and reception improved 100%, but is still very bad in comparison with other cars I have owned. Has anyone installed an aftermarket antenna and completely bypassed the rear window antenna? I'm thinking about doing this. I know it is a lot of work and involves cutting into the body of the car, but it is so annoying to have bad reception. AM radio actually comes in perfectly, it is the FM reception that I am having problems with. I replaced the factory radio with a better HD one and that works, but the HD keeps tuning in and out. Not worth it.
