i m trying to get some help hopefully u guys can assist me. i have an 05 impala base model and all the time i pop the hood to work on it i look straight down and it bugs me that there is no lower engine cover. the engine bay gets really dirty there is nothing covering the engine from the bottom. I was wondering if that's the way it was supposed to be or if im missing something from there. thanks in advance.

There was no cover for the lower part of the engine. Only the one up top.

Airflow on the w-body works best without any kind of lower cover. That's why you have the lower air dam because the car does not get sufficient airflow from the front, and that is also what diverts most dirt and dust into the engine bay as it is.

No because I clean it, and know that the performance is better (at the very least more air is getting to the intake)

I do Sad I try to clean it regularly to keep it grime free. Helldo brings up a good with the air dam and dirt. I've never known or thought of that before.
