Ok so im doing an overhaul on my car this weekend before winter comesand have a few ?s

1 Sea foam does it work and what vacuum line do i have to pull on the 3.8 to add it in and also should i buy 1 bottle for vacuum and one for gas tank or will 1 for both do the trick?

2 How many jugs of DEXCOOL does it take to fill a car back up after a flush and should i put 100% dex or 50/50 with water?

3 Prestone coolant system flush anyone use it to flush their system and is it harmful to our tempermental gaskets?

4 what tranny fluid do i use how many quarts will it take to refill.... should i use any additives

5 where do i go to get a new tranny filter and gasket?

thanks guys once again any input is appreciated

I hate to say it, but all of this should be easy to find with a search...

but....

1) use the brake booster line (half a can in the gas and half in the brake booster)
2) 50/50 mix with almost 3 gallons capacity (i just buy the premixed 50/50 dex at the parts store)
3) never used it
4) you need almost 8 quarts for a pan drop
5) dealer or parts store

It's the large vacuum hose between the intake manifold and brake booster... Exclamation ...Ben

If my camera was working I'd take a picture for you but I'll try to explain it. It's a vacuum line that runs from the back of the intake manifold to a box near the brake fluid reservoir.

I never poured it into my vac line. I put it in a can and let the hose drink it up. It did stall out my 3400 the one time I used it.

Are you flushing the coolant from the cooling system? If yes, then use the stop leak tablets. GM puts them in from the factory.

Or don't put them in. I'm just speaking from experience. I use the stop leak when I flush the cooling system and my 3400 is still on stock intake gaskets at 115k miles.

When I pulled wrenches for a living, I used Bars Leaks every time I serviced the cooling system or replaced a component of it...It reduces lost time on comebacks... Im With Stupid ...Ben

Doesn't the tablets cause gunk build up sometimes?

You get small amounts of residue in the neck of the radiator but nothing crazy.

You'll probably want some DexVI. I used Coastal brand Dex VI when I did mine last fall.
