I,ve been noticing that when my impala comes to a complete stop and then i attempt to hit the gas to go it wont run for a second then all of a sudden the car janks foward abruptly and takes off has this occurred to anybody? any idea or suggestion on what's the problem?

Check the transmission fluid.

Does the engine rev up but no forward motion? Last time that happened to me it was the torque converter.

I remember those problems. Used to happen to me a lot. Took me 4 transmissions within a year, calling the Attorney General and getting a local attorney involved for them to fix it right. 190,000 miles and going strong, except for the occasional hard downshift into 1st when rolling to a stop.

Mine does that too, but I think it's the lock on the torque converter. It only seems to happen when I have been up over 35mph and that's about the point where the tork lock kicks in. Under that, the annoying clunk doesn't happen.
