Hello All-
I am new to dealing with these cars and I am just getting into working on cars so i dont have a whole lot of experince, but i have several friends that do.

My big question is this. I just recently was given a 2000 impala LS. It has 120k on it and was bought brand new by my parents and been a daily driver since 2000.

The only thing wring with it is this. It needs a new tranny. I am also thinking of doing some upgrades to it.

I was wondering if i am doing a top swap is there a certin model of tranny I need ? Is there a diffrence between the ss model vs a LS model when it comes to the tranny. i thought i heard there was but didnt know for sure.

I am also wondering if someone has a list of all the parts i am going to need in order to do the swap.

Thanks for all your help and time!

JC

the SS had the Heavy Duty version.

If you are looking to buy a complete rebuilt transmission that will handle anything you can throw at it, check out www.tripleedgeperformance.com

as for the top swap, there are a bunch of threads around

That's a lot of money to have a slow old lady boat at the end of the day. Think about it.
