Hey everyone,
I recently bought a scangauge II mainly for the tachometer display so I would know when to shift. However, it proved to be even more useful with all sorts of custom programmable gauges (called xgauges) based on your vehicle's OBD II protocol. The codes Linear Logic provides for the GM VPW protocol is pitifully small. I was wondering if anyone else has one of these SGIIs and had developed more xgauge codes for use on the Impala. There's a coding manual, and apparently you can make your own codes based on the PID.

I have an SGII but the only gauges I have added were horsepower and torque (which aren't all that accurate anyway). I would like to do the trans temp but haven't gotten around to it.

I use mine to display RPM, Water Temp., Transmission Fluid Temp. and Intake Air Temp. I haven't bothered with any others.

I put most of the GM VPW codes that Linear Logic has on their site into my xgauges. I like to display Tach, avg. MPG, Trans. Fluid Temp, and I like to alternate between throttle position, engine load %, A/F ratio (which always reads 14.7) and MAP. One of the nicer things about the SG2 is if you don't have DIC in your car it lets you access things like oil life. I just wish there were more for the GM VPW codes, especially oil pressure and fuel level, although I'm not sure there's a fuel level PID for VPW impalas. I really like the trip computer as well, all in all I would say it was worth the cash.

Did you install a manual transmission too, or are you just putting your auto through some abuse you'll later regret?

X2 it's an automatic hence it shift automatically. You'll be finding chunks of planetary in the pan in no time. Very Happy

I guess a year is a stretch to bring up an old joke. http://www.naioa.com/v2/module.....mp;t=33276

I can't believe it's been a year already. All in all, I have been very happy with my Impala. I had some headaches, but they weren't anything ridiculous.
