Check out this bad accident, it's amazing the driver walked away with just some bruises. Evidently the Impala is a very safe car.

Couldn't get to see it. I don't like to register for a car site if I don't have the car.

I never owned an Impala in my life and I'm a member here. Plus the GP is also a w-body car like the Impala. Same car, different sheet metal.

Here's the post with pics since you can't see it.

My wife's cousin was turning into his grand parents driveway when an 18 wheeler decided to pass several cars from behind him. He was hit broadside in the drivers door and throw about 6 car lenghts into my father-in-law's front yard. His grand parents were in the front yard and witnessed the entire accident. After the dust cleared, he got out and walked away.

Impala with side curtain air bags FTMFW!!!!

I got there with a camera after the rig left, but here are some picts of the car. They left it there since it landed on family property and his uncle runs a repair shop.

If you look good at this photo, you can see my mother-in-laws gold Impala in the driveway. It's almost identical except for the rims and spoiler. My father-in-law didn't see the initial impact, but did see the car flying though his yard. The first thing he did was look under the carport thinking it was his wife.

Part of the rig's front cap landed in the back seat.

Maybe it had some crappy tires, like Goodyear LS.

It never ceases to amaze me how well a W-body can absorb an impact.

I'd advise you to get over that. As much as I hate ClubGP, it has a bunch of useful info, as does GPONA, GrandPrixForums and RegalGS.org. All of the cars are essentially the same and a search on those boards can net you info that's not found here if you are too impatient to wait for a reply.

agreed! it's amazing how this car was able to handle such impacts like the guy doing over 100 that posted on here awhile back

If GM got only a single thing right on the W-body, it's obviously its Safety. That Had to have been one hell of a hit, and to walk away? amazing.

They're not too bad. They just blow out all the time. They're cheap too replace though,

Exactly. Just be sure to change your brake fluid every 24,000 miles - that's all that really matters.

That thread was priceless. .....
