the car has no clue you changed the oil. You have to reset the monitor. Its in the owners manual and/or FAQ section here.

But don't push the pedal too fast like people in the movies do when they are trying to start a car with no gas. Press and release. In fact, thanks for reminding me; mine has to be reset. Embarassed I changed my oil Tuesday.

I'd recommend bringing a stop watch to the car with you. Most people are terrible at judging 5 seconds. Go too fast and it won't work... go to slow and it won't work...

I believe the manual says the car will chime when it's reset. I have never had this happen, I have an aftermarket radio with a chime/RAP module, shouldn't it work just the same?

I had issues with mine.

I was turning the ignition off/on too soon..

Do the foot pedal thing and let the car sit. You'll see the display change.

The change oil light uses a mathematical equation to figure out when to change the oil. Engine RPM, hours, mileage, average speed all factor into it. The oil can be perfectly good and the car can still tell you to change it. It doesnt test the oil in any way, in fact the change oil light has nothing to do with the oil at all.

BTW, I had mt SS for 4 years and the light came on once.

It's pretty weird how it works. I've gone 13,000 without changing oil and my light never came on.

SO my change oil light came on.. Weird because i have changed the oil like 5 times since i have had the car.. I have done the pedal thing.. but the manual says that the oil light should flash if its reset, but unless my car is on and running the oil light doesn't display.??? Instead i get security, and the battery light. What gives?
