Had a car show up at Universal Technical Institute and they were running free dyno pulls with a donation...me and my buddy (Neon SRT4) went up there and I met with 05SS45. It was a good time, but I was kind of disappointed with my dyno results. Well here are some pictures of some of the cars that showed up. I sort of ended up in the show by mistake, but whatever.
So my dyno results ended up showing about 245 torque/205 WHP - which surprised me. The tech said it was very common to see a lot of torque in supercharged engines, but not the power to match. My buddy was showing about the same torque (250) and hit about 262 horse. I don't know...what would you say that translates to on the flywheel? They say 240 on the crank stock, and I've done the 3.4" drop with all supporting mods. Guess I just expected a bigger number- I think a tune is in order.
Not bad man. Superchargers make engines have more displacement, so it's like having a big block in a way. Mucho torque, and that's what gets you off the line faster. Those turbo Neons are pretty fast after only around 5K in mods. We tease the Neon club here with, "It's still a Neon", they get so pissed.
Driveline loss is usually 20%, so you definitely need a tune since you're motor is putting out stock hp at the crank. Your buddies motor is putting out 310 at the crank, which is where your motor should be.
Thanks for the info don...I figured I should be putting out more than I am, and I think my off-the-shelf tune just isn't cutting it. Also, thanks for the brackets - noticed the difference right away when I put on the front and back STBs.
