Does anyone else have one on their Imp......

I got my lokar flexible dipstick from Jegs and i cant seem to get in the trans. I was wondering, do i remove the rubber seal that holds the stock dipstick tube then put the Flexible on in? And will the two "o" rings hold the fluid or to i need to add some other type of gasket seal or something.

Does anyone else have one on their Imp

heres the link of the dipstick

Yes, that's a RWD tranny. Impala's have the 4t65e transmission.

Way to (not) think with your dipstick, jimmy.

I think you'll find that your dipstick needs to be stiff if you're going to try and bust through the o-ring on a tranny if its not properly lubed and has a tight seal. And don't remove your rubber, it'll make a mess.

Well i called Jegs before i ordered it and gave them all the info about my car, and they said "it will work" and that was the one i needed.

JubjubW-
I bought it in 5/24. Idk i will have to call them......

helldorado-
Properly lubed.... I soaked the whole end of the dipstick and rubber peice with trans fluid. and it still didnt' go in. but it will when there is no seal...... Is there another rubber piece i could get. I think that if i could find one not as thick (the new one is about an 8th of an inch thick) then it may work....

Spit on it and rub it a little bit, to get the lube spread around. Then stick it in, just a little bit at a time at first, and pull it back out. Continue sticking it in and out a little more each time.

You definitely have to work it around a bit if the hole is too tight. If you jam it in there too fast, there's a good chance you'll just rip the seal right open and then its a total mess.

Ok if the advice of " spit on it, rub on it & then stick it" Very Happy Very Happy Doesnt work... then what about heating it up to get it soft, so i could make the seal thinner... Would that be a good idea?

This thread is starting to sound more like a sex advice thread... Very Happy
