just some pics of the silverado.... 5.3L v8... Taking a bit getting used to, since its automatic transmission (outside that town car which I rarely use), I've been driving manual tranny vehicles for a while... but this truck drives excellent - handles good for such a large vehicle, and I know the long wheelbase helps the ride... Seems to be a good pickup, and if I can learn NOT to keep looking for that "invisible" clutch I'll be ok... Rolling Eyes

Nice truck Mark! They do ride nice, but Hows it handle? The 05 I'm driving doesnt handle at all, but it is a P.O.S. beat up Fleet thats extended cab WITH a full long box.

my neighbors have a GMC with the full size box and the same cab config as I do... ( and 2wd also), and they pull a camper trailer across country with it... But they have a lot of problems (even with the 5.3L) when they go into the mountains out west... not enough power with a gas engine to pull...

This truck doesn't handle as well as the 04+ F150 or the 07+ Silverado/Sierra but its still a good driving truck to me... (for the size).... It grabs a lot of wind though, so thats one thing you have to remember anytime you're driving a full size truck at 55-60 mph...

My truck handles better than the Impala...

Too much body roll in the impala.

And as far as the back roads, well you can get it down 'em if you're careful. I took mine down some trails at Sumner Lake in New Mexico, hella fun. I just need to lift the front end level (or 3" lift all around with some 35s) so i don't have to worry about my undervalance on rocks

Thats a nice truck tho Linc, i like those

Hey man welcome back! Did you trade the V6 F150 on this, or do still have that?

yeah, i traded in my mom's marquis and my f150... we're trying to cut down on extra insurance, etc... We don't need 3 vehicles, and the Linc was just sitting here in my carport never getting used...

and there's another "BIG" reason too... the V6 f150 is really "too fast" for me... that 4.2L v6 is so fast, that I got a ticket doing 78 in a 55 - and I'd just turned from one highway onto another, and hadn't made it a quarter mile when the state blue lights flashed... Embarassed (I didn't know that an F150 with a 4.2L v6 would do 0-80 in the quarter mile).. Rolling Eyes Laughing

thanks Rob.... I don't do "much" offroading per se, but when I go fishing I do like to get as close to the rivers as possible... The width is what is my problem here... (where I like to go)...

The 07+ Chevrolet/GMC and 04+ F150 will handle better than their predecessors - upgraded suspension on thoe... the GM trucks (GMT900) from 07+ drive really good for a truck... The 99-06 (and including the 2007 "classic" series) are still riding on an outdated supsension setup
