We used to meet up every few months at Hooters in Laurel or Rockville. As time passed, members moved away or changed vehicles and stopped posting on NAIOA.

The last couple times people met up, we went to a car meet in Manassas, VA.

I'm all for meeting up as long as we don't call it a DMV meet. That's the most retarded abbreviation for this area that I've ever heard. District, MD, VA. Stupid.

lol Why is it stupid? DMV is a lot easier to type/say than the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. And I'm all for meeting at the Rock or Laurel Hooters. I go to the Rock one on UFC nights.

It's stupid because D, M, and V don't abbreviate any of the states or regions in question. I guess it's just something that bothers me. Just stupid s**t that the younger crowd comes up with that just doesn't make sense to me. I guess I'm getting old.

No. It's the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (northern VA). How does it not abbreviate the three regions? Do you mean it doesn't do it like DCMDVA? THAT would be stupid! lol

I agree, that would be stupid. But I think DMV is just as stupid. District doesn't mean anything. It's the District of Columbia, not District. It's stupid to me for the same reason iffy mentioned. Not to mention that DMV already stands for Dept of Motor Vehicles.

The metro area people felt like they needed something like NYC or DFW. Only difference is, those make sense.

Do what everybody else does and just refer it to as NOVA, and most people will automatically know what area you're talking about. You don't sound like an idiot and if MD people feel left out, then they can pound sand.

NOVA doesn't really suffice as the larger percentage of the (I'll do this once for whitelighting's sake) Washington, DC Metropolitan Area don't live in NOVA. Plus, Northern VA is wack! lol And Iffy, it may not seem like a huge difference to you when you only have to do it once, but for those who live work and play out this way, DMV is a hellova lot easier than the mouthful that is the DC Metro Area. But when it all comes down to it...who cares! lol Say what you want. Call it the Capitol for all I care...whatever, makes no difference.
