So I was a bit bored due to the poor weather today, so I went ahead and put my plan into action. I've been admiring some member's rides who've gone and tinted their taillights, so I went ahead and pulled a DIY on mine. I'm very pleased with the results, thankfully.

Look's pretty good for a DIY tail tint. The only thing that looks off is the mark on the right of this picture. Is that water or an imperfection in the light itself?

It looks like the raised letter on the light itself (which you are supposed to sand off before you tint)

You need to spend some time wet sanding, buffing and polishing so they look 'wet' like these

I have 35% all around. Got it the day after it rolled of the showroom floor in 2001. Probably a little faded by now though. As for what I used, it's VHT's NightShade

Got it, just haven't had the weather to detail it yet.

Indeed. I only applied 2 coats and didn't want to clearcoat over it (lack of time right now) I've got 180-2000 grit here. All I did was put a quick hand-buff of plastic polish on it (for now)

That Back to black doesn't work too well. It last for a couple days and that's it. I wanna you some forever black, but don't know where to find it.

Maybe a bit off-topic.... what causes the trim to do that? Mine is an 03 which sits outside in full sun all the time, but I haven't had any issues. Is it related to a particular model year where trim was sourced somewhere else, or maybe a particular ingredient in car care products?

Probably the ultraviolet light fading it, much like any other plastic due to prolonged exposure to sunlight.
