I built one a few years ago... it's easy to do if you can get your hands on a spare PCM connector and ALDL connector

ALDL is the connector under the dash (the one you plug the PT into)... then it's just a matter of wiring them up and getting a power supply

Ooo so it's that easy. Are the wires colored to match? I can match the colors up and it works right?

Why are you wanting one?

Im With Stupid The only real reason to have one is if you are going to be doing frequent tuning for others. (for example starting a mail order tuning operation)

Shouldn't you be getting practice not bricking your own PCM before tuning for others? Laughing

No, the wire colors don't match and you really don't need one... if you are attempting to tune a friends car, you need to scan their car so you already need the laptop in the car

An offboard harness is one of the safer ways to flash a pcm. There's nothing else on the databus to interfere with the communication between the DHP and the PCM.

I'm not debating that its the safest way to flash a PCM, but seeing as how the OP just got his DHP, I think he's getting a head of himself making an offboard harness to flash PCMs for other people.

This is true.

I've already been practicing since I got my tuner. I have tuned 3 of my friends cars and took off their governor.

when you say you tuned their cars, what do you mean? what did you tune? Do you actually know what you are doing? I have been reading up on tuning for weeks and still haven't even done anything to the pcm yet, because there is so much you need to know and understand about scanning and getting good readings, then interpret the scans properly to figure out what needs changed. Then you need to know exactly how to change it properly. And that is just the summmed up version. If you don't know that then you can seriously mess up the engine. You also need to dyno the car if you are going for a perfomance tune something that might not be available to you.

Just some things to consider
