Steering wheel - 2004 - with audio and cruise control button

I've been reading quite a bit of these forums and you guys are great! Already fixed the ISS in the Impala I bought recently via your threads and wisdom.

My car didn't come with audio controls on the steering wheel, just cruise control. I had read that a replacement steering wheel from either an Impala or Monte Carlo can be use and it's merely plug and play. Are the years I need to stick to 00 - 05 if my car is a 2004?

I've been looking around for a used steering wheel with audio/cruise built in but have yet to find anything. Where do most people who have done this go to get the replacement steering wheel? What is the going rate for a steering wheel with these options if used and, if anyone knows, what does the dealer charge for new?

Any steering from 00-05 will work, but the steering wheel of the Monte is different, the difference is the cruise control on/off switch; on the impala is located on the MFS; on the Monte is located on the steering wheel; it still can be used though, but I don't like look of the Monte steering on the Impala because the steering wheel of the Monte is black and the interior of the Impala is either gray or tan.

If you get a Monte wheel, then you need a Monte air bag as well

As far as year compatibility, it's the air bag that has to be matched to year (or year range), not the steering wheel...

No, you still need an 00-05 steering wheel... and if you get an Impala wheel, you can transfer the airbag.. if you get a Monte wheel, you need a compatible year Monte air bag
