just today started the car and had heat on,went back inside house and i hear this loud ass whine, check it out sounds like it coming from my blower fan.it sounds like a tornado siren, the whine will start get loud go away and like 30 seconds later it will start again.it seems to do that like four times maybe more.it has happend in the past when i first bought the car in 03,i took it to the dealer and im pretty sure they said they swapped the blower fan or blower fan motor.

I don't suppose you had it on either of the 'defrost' settings, aka windshield or the 50/50 windshield feet setting? I only ask because those settings will use the A/C compressor and mine used to whine like a sob before it gave out.

Easiest way to access the blower motor is to pull down the panel and remove the passenger seat. Stick your head in the footwell and look up. It provides a somewhat comfortable way to sit while you get at the bolts that hold it up there.

I just replaced my blower motor myself about a month or so ago after getting the same sound you're talking about. It made the sound on all speeds and settings but was louder on higher speeds. I think I picked up a new blower motor for about $90 and the job was done in maybe an hour. It is very close to the firewall so thats why it took an hour. 3 small bolts, 1 air hose, and one clip-in electrical connection. I bought a cheap one, the dealer one was $150 even with my fathers General Motors discount.
