Howdie. Random question, I put in 93 my last fill up and it made my car run 20ish degrees hotter give or take a few degrees highest it spiked to was almost 230 degrees? That happen to anyone else before? Never saw that in my life. It wasn't any warmer out and it was the same driving conditions.... odd. Reason I put 93 in was mainly for s**t and giggles. I recently started filling up with 89 which the car absolutely loves and I figured what the hell i'll try it and I realized a day later why is my car running warmer? I filled up again today with 89 and its back to around the normal 180 - 200 degree running temp...... And also I loose a good 45 miles to a tank with 93..... Never doing that again Laughing it's back to good ol' 89. I snapped some pics today on my way to fill er up. Just finished putting the moldings back on from removing the paint from them... easy job but removing the bumpers was a PITA! I like it better black than white adds a nice contrast. What do you guys like better? Paint or without Paint.

Before paint removal.

My "old" style rear end scheme.

After paint removal. Yes I know I am missing my molding piece I ran out of paint remover I have it back on now.

My new rear end scheme, went with the all blacked out look.

Went a little scenic with this one, I like it.

Unless you are running a tune that needs high octane fuel, you are wasting your money using anything other than 87.

I get better gas mileage average 23.7 mpg from 89 rather than 22.25 mpg from 87 and my ping/tap went away from not using 87. And yes they are 20's and my Bra is on for cosmetic purposes right now. I need money for a LS bumper and paint cause my friend who owned the car before me couldn't drive to save his life Head Explode! now I have to fix his screwups. I told him he should foot the bill since he made it the way it is... He didn't like that very much Laughing

If higher octane makes a change, something is wrong with your car that should be addressed and not just using higher fuel.

I'll repeat what I said earlier, there is no reason to use anything other than 87 in these cars unless you are running an L67 or a tune that requires it. I'd be willing to bet most (if not all of the difference) is in your head.

I think the engine was just gummed up from never giving it a cleaning, ie. sea foam. The higher octane could have loosend some carbon build up and deposits and that could have made the difference in thinking that the car runs better on 89? There is nothing mechanically wrong with my vehical *knocks on wood* it has 134,XXX and it ticks just like it did when my friend had it at 84,XXX

EDIT: I just ordered centric cross drilled and slotted rotors and ferro-carbon pads along with the ddm slim ballast 35W 6000K kit with harness Hang Head 2 Hang Head 2 Hang Head 2

The octane rating itself wouldn't cause a change. Some brand of gas have extra 'cleaning' additives that they put into their premium only gas (Shell V-Power and Chevron Techron come to mind).
