I just want the better gear ratio without ripping the tranny apart to change em

You can but you have to have the pcm programmed for the change in gear ratio. Since you have someone to do that for you, you should be good to go.

As long as the trans is a '03+ stye trans then you'll be fine (after programming for the correct gear ratio)

You guys repeat yourselves alot. Laughing Do what was previously said and you should be good. Just hope the used tranny is in good shape. I'll probably be doing this sooner or later. Sad

thanks for the input... i pulled this up of wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.....ansmission

I see a bunch of minivans and such use 3.69 gears... im assuming that most likely these wouldnt fit? different cradles? if so ill try getting the 3.29 non HD off an olds or buick or the aztek... ill build my own HD tranny from my old one if its salvagable. just looking for a little get up and go for my impala...

went to a junk yard and priced the HD one off an SS...910$ with 80k miles on it... base model for 510 ~100k.... car partz is closed right now just seeing if anyone else had knowledge of interchanges mecanically...
