As the title says, i was wondering, since i have been reading that all ss owners have 3" zzp downpipes, would i need to get rid of my 2.5" zzp downpipe and buy a 3" one? I wouldn't want anything to go wrong or engine blowing up when i do the swap. Thanks guys

The 2.5" DP will get the job done. You might want to upgrade to a 3" pipe in the future, but I wouldn't say its required for the L67.

Thats a relief. Was so worried that it might mess with the engine or something. Thanks iffy, I appreciate it.

Look at it this way: the stock L67 comes with the same goofy U-bend, restrictive downpipe as the L36. The 2.5" DP is a huge improvement over the stocker.

as Iffy said, but if you are going to mod the L67, then a 3" will be needed

That IS true. I have always wondered, what makes the 3" better for the l67's? Is it because it lets more air through than the 2.5?

Oh yes i definitely plan to mod the hell out of it. I am hopefully wishing to make around 310 HP as your old SS did.

Think of the engine as a giant air pump. You need to get air in and you need to get the air out. When you are running a supercharger it can bring in more air than the L36 could ever dream of. Once it gets into the engine, fuel is added, combustion occurs and the exhaust needs to get out. If you have a lot of compressed air behind a 2.5" DP you can create a bottleneck. The 3" DP provides significantly less resistance for the exhaust, so it can effectively get out of the engine. (keep in mind thats a super simplistic explanation, but it should get the point across)

Are you swapping out the L36 for an L67 or are you going with a top swap? If you go with a top swap, the 2.5" DP won't get you very far. If you're looking for a lot of power with a top swap, you might as well skip the DP and go with headers.

Sounds pricey. Did it come with the PCM and engine harness or is the shop going to flash in the right bin file?

yes it's coming with everything including a complete tune w/ a 2 year warranty on all parts. Price wasn't bad at all and the best thing is, I'll still have enough money left over to set to the side for a tranny rebuild just in case.
