So quick history. G/f's grandfather had this firebird. It was his project car but he passed away about 3 years ago. The car has been sitting in her dad's driveway since then and he has not planned on doing anything with it....after some negotiation haha We traded. I am repairing/staining his deck and I get the car! NOT A BAD DEAL! lol

Anyways, car needs a LOT of work..needs trans rebuild and it'll be driveable, but needs some rust removal, repaint, more body work, and of course rebuilding and modding Very Happy

I will take good pics tomorrow I just snapped a few quick shots before I left for the night, here they are:

yes its got the 350, would have preferred the 400 but hey it'll be getting something new soon anyways.

I really know almost nothing about the car yet, tomorrow I will be taking a good look at what I am dealing with, but for about 100 bucks and a days worth of my time/labor it was a great catch!

Sick. My favourite gen of Firebird for sure. And a day of labor is an amazing trade.

Is it a '67 or a '68?

Lookin nice. Any engine shots? It's a Pontiac 350, so IMO it trumps all Chevy SBs.

99% sure it is a 68, it's obviously pre 69 and after 67 the firebird got the side marker light, which this one has.

This is def. my favorite year of the firebird, I don't like the front end of the 69's really..

Car definitely has some rust that will need to be dealt with, but it appears to only be surface rust for the most part. (From what I can see). Also my g/f's grandfather bought this thing back in the day, and has been the original owner since, so I should be able to dig up all the history about it, which will be nice. He painted it this purple color sometime in the 90's but I think I may be doing a silver with black highlights (possible racing stripes? and rims) to kinda go with my impala. Not sure any any definite plans, seeing as how I wont have money to really dig into this thing for another year or two.

Over the next month or so I will be doing my research on the car and all seeing what problems arise and planning out what I want to do to it and messin with photoshop a little to see of possible designs.

I was unable to get some interior/engine shots because the g/f's dad is working at the fire station today, and it being easter, I don't have time to go up there and grab the keys from him, but here are a few more teasers. I will be updating this every couple weeks or so and seeing where it's at Very Happy

note..cover was tied down in front, no time to remove it for better pics today Sad

Wow. Great looking 1st Gen Firebird. Its in great shape too, esp being in the salt-belt of Chicago. You really lucked out with it.

Best part about these cars is almost every part can be replaced if need be through companies like Classic Industries and what not.

It's a 1968... The 1967 'Bird has vent windows

I had a '69 Firebird 400 in high school.. it was a really nice California car so it didn't have rust issues, just suffered from a server case of ugly

Good luck with the resto...

I didn't know that about the 67 having vent windows, all I knew was the 67's didnt have side marker lamp and this one does so it has to be a 68 lol..

Thanks to everyone for wishes... I was surprised of the condition too, being as how it was in New Jersey for a while when they lived there and then Chicago all of its life.

I will def. keep everyone posted on the restoration and mods Smile
