ok, so i just had to open my cousins trail blazer that he locked his keys in, and i did it with a pole through the door. When i unlocked the door with the manual switch, and opened the door, the horn started to honk. On my wifes ford escape we locked it while we were in it once, and when we got it the horn started to honk.... when i tried to get it to do it again i couldn't. do our impalas have this feature somehow, the horn honking when the doors open?

i've tried everything, locking it with the fob while inside, then letting myself out, locking manually and then opening, nothing. And like i said, i can't get my wifes escape to do it again if my life depended on it. whats the trick to this and why is it so complicated?

Roll down the window, get out, lock it via fob, reach in window, unlock manually and open the door.
That does it on my '06.

The content theft alarm is optional in the 00-05 Impalas

You might not have the option

A dealer may be able to enable the option with a Tech 2 without needing to install a new BCM, but the question is whether they would do it or not...

The option is there, but I'm not sure how functional it is as I don't have keyless entry on my 9C1 to play around with it.
