Im looking to get a new battery, just wondered if anyone has a specific brand that has treated them well or ones to steer clear from? Thanks

anything name brand should be fine. Of course Optima will top the list, but DieHard, Interstate, etc are all good. I've used PowerMaster in the past with good results. My mechanic is a dealer for them and has only seen 2 bad batteries in the past 5 years.

My stock battery lasted me about 5 years. After that, I switched to a Diehard Gold.

I have an ACDelco. Had it for 5 years now. Its seen storage for months at a time and still fired right up. Sat in storage for 6 months this time. Jumped it two weeks ago and it still runs strong. And I've been running 1,500 + watts through the car the whole time as well. Thought for sure I'd be buying a new battery after 4 1/2 years of abuse then sitting for 6 months. Maybe I just got lucky with a good battery though. But that's my two cents.

Interstate. I've had nothing but good results using them.

i only use Optima yellow tops.... Best $220 money can buy... and you can get them as low as $140 if you look around

1 yellow top under the hood... 2 more in the trunk....and a modded Alternator = run Two 1000W RMS 12" subwoofers all day with little dimming of head lights, and you will shake things Yards away from you with ease...

3 batteries and a modded alt and you are still seeing headlight dimming? what is this "modded" alt..an alt rewire or the big 3? J/w cuz if you have a HO alt 3 batt's and you are only running 1000W your headlights should not be dimming..

Or, get a Kirkland battery from Costco which is pretty much the same thing and only spend about 60 or 70...

If it makes your decision any easier, there really are only a handful of battery manufacturers out there and they produce them for EVERYONE to slap their brand on them and sell them as their own.

Johnson Controls are are one of the major players out there.

I honestly don't know why anyone buys anything but an Optima battery.

I've heard bad things about the cheaper duralast batteries...? The autozone guy said they have PLENTY of problems with their "red tops". The one in my brothers 100% stock 97 lesabre is having a hard time starting after only 11 months.

My impala has an interstate, and I've had absolutely no problems with it, it's going on 4.5 years.

Haven't heard of any problems with AC delcos either. I think their 78-6YR batteries only have an advertised 650 cca? I thought they were 770...

I think the interstate 78 series has 800 cca?

If you don't have the money for an optima, I'd go interstate.
