2003 LS

The light on the heat selection levers has been out for a few years now and just today the light on the fan power selection knob went out.

Is there anything I can do or are the lights buried deep inside there with no chance of me being able to replace it?

It's not like it's a horrible disaster and causing my car not to work, but it is a bit annoying to see that dark spot on the center console when driving in the dark.

The lights on the get outside air and circulate inside air buttons still work.

If you have a steady hand and some patience, you can solder new bulbs to the board. If not, you can send it to bbengineer for an LED upgrade.

Its fixable but a little time consuming. You would have to take the entire climate control out, remove the plastic covering to expose the green circuit board... ****Be very careful with the board****

You would have to get a soldering iron from radio shack, cost about $7.00
The bulbs in the circuit that you say were blown out are heated on, thats where the iron will come into play to heat the metal and remove and to add the new bulbs... The bulbs shouldnt cost no more than a couple of cents at radio shack??? But pretty much thats how you would fix the problem without spending ridiculous dollars at the dealership... Otherwise you could yank one out at a junkyard...

I wouldn't recommend the junkyard route. When my slider backlights went out, I bought a climate control unit from a junkyard and the slider backlighst were out on that one as well...

If I go drive over to bbengineer's garage how much will it cost for him to take it out, redo it, and put it back in?

Well although somewhat challenging soldering is probably your best option... I would take about 10.00 bucks and fix the problem than to spend 5 to 600.00 bucks fooling around with the dealership... None stop, the job shouldnt take anymore than a hour...

PM him and ask him that, see if he will do it for you
