So I slid up the passenger seat today and there was an airbag just laying underneath it. What is the purpose and/or how is it supposed to be mounted?
Oh, and it is plugged in under the drivers seat.

I think it's the side airbag and I think it's suppose to be mounted on the side of the driver and passenger backrests facing the side doors.

That's not a safe place for it to be if it were to be deployed.

I'm guessing someone changed the seats with a non air bag one and just put that one underneath so the airbag system wouldn't register a fault and display the air bag light.

Yeah I'd get that taken care of (IE have the proper seat installed). You wouldn't want this to happen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ2XhDsNT5k

that video was absolutely stupid, and I like how the warning at the beginning says not to copy or illegally download the video, cause that should be high on their list of concerns...

BOT:

If I disconnect it, I am pretty sure I will have an Air Bag light that I won't be able to turn off?
