The stock 235/55 is too tall for you? Confused

A 245/45 tire really needs a minumum of a 7.5" wide rim. The stock wheel is only 6.5" wide. And on top of that,.. a 245/45 is a full 1.5" smaller in diameter. Thats a pretty big difference. Your speedo will be close to 4 mph off as well.

I hate to break it to you, using a shorter tire isn't the solution to your problem. Odds are you would create problems...

98 mph in second gear?? the final drive of the SS is 3.29 right? my impala shifts out of second at 90 mph also only at the stock shift point.

if you leave it in second it hits the rev limiter right at 98 mph at 6000 rpm.....i did not realize the stock wheel was only 6.5 wide....that sucks....i guess ill just go 235/50

IIRC, you should only use the manual band for engine braking. They arent meant to take that kind of abuse.

I'd say the MCSS, but my opinion may be biased. Laughing

Stick with the stock tire size since it is your daily driver. I put stock size goodyear eagle gt tires on mine and love them for all around use. Plus, I think the stock size fills the wheel wells nicely.
