You can get an engine puller which I think straps to the upper radiator support and pulls the engine forward or I've heard of some people parking on a hill in park and when you let off the brake it will rock the engine forward (to keep the car from rolling away)

I used a Lisle 48260 engine tilter. Got mine on ebay for about 30 bucks. Worth every penny IMO.

I'm 6'4", 220 pounds and could barely get my arm and a ratchet behind the engine without tilting it. That tilter was some of the best maintenance related money I've spent on the car (and I'll get to use it again when I change my brother's plugs in a few months).

A cheap way is to unhook your upper motor mounts, and use a rachet strap to tilt it forward. Very Happy

I'm looking for a more detailed discription. What bolts have to be removed and what else has to be removed before the tilt. So there is a special tool to tip the engine forward. Anything on youtube that would show the process? Thanks Barry

It's pretty simple (provided you haven't mangled the aluminum sleeves in poly motor mounts like I did). All you do is take out three of the four dog bone mounting bolts. Completely remove one dog bone and replace the other with the Lisle Tilter and use the tilter to bring the engine forward.

I've used the ratchet-strap method before. Just remove the dogbones and attach a ratchet to the upper radiator support and the strap around the bracket on the engine.

You might want to read some spark plug change threads on here before attempting this yourself if just rocking the engine forward is going to be a problem.

^^^ excellent point. The plugs on these cars can be a royal pain the first time (especially if they are factory originals with 100K+ miles)
