I have seen this on many impala, mine and others. Trim around rear window along the top and somewhat on the sides gaps away from the body.

Were some of the windows not set deep enough. Anyone had any leak problems ever at the rear window because of this?

Mines like that too. The strip running across the roof is even missing. No leaks though.

That trim strip is just for looks, it doesn't seal the window. My front window used to do it until I got a new windshield, then they put it back right.
