I recently moved my intake under the headlight, but I think My performance actually went downhill. For some reason just having it sit in the place where the stock box was seemed to work better. Also My mileage seems to have decreased since I installed the intake. Anyone else had this problem? Also can I Make a box for the PCM to sit in. So it doesnt rattle or does it need to have air circulation?

Do you have a 90 deg bend in there some where? I heard that can decrease performance drastically.

You can get a PCM tray that will hold it in place or if you really want you can custom fab something. i think the PCM tray is made for a trailblazer or something but fits in the impala.

Did you touch the MAF sensor or anything like that when you were moving stuff around? Oil the filter maybe?

I had the same problem on my base when I first installed my CAI. I pulled the battery cable for 30 mins to reset the PCM and after it relearned I noticed about a 2-3mpg gas mileage increase. So you might want to check that out.

As far as horsepower, I did notice that it felt beefier in the lower end, but I actually lost .2 seconds in the 1/4. Of course I can't tell if it's directly because of my mods, or my trans that is beginning to eat itself.

You might want to look at getting a tune.

Before you were getting warmer air, so you got better MPG. Colder air gives you less MPG, so that explains that part. Not sure about the perceived HP loss though.

Somebody was selling a PCM tray here recently. Just scroll down the list in the For Sale section.

I 2nd the battery disconnect. And yes, if you have a sharp 90 degree bend in your intake stream, and no MAF screen, it can disrupt the airflow across your MAF sensor and get odd readings.

I know I've asked this before, but can't remember the answer. Embarassed

Does a CAI really increase horsepower, or does it just shift your power band a little?

So I unplug the Negative Terminal?? Let It sit, unconnected for 30 mins. Then hook up the battery, and go for a drive? Is this correct? Also I believe I do have a 90 degree but in order to have it under headlight it needs to be there.

90 degree bend = your problem, it can be done without. Search on here and on Grand Prix forums for Home made FWI, or CAI.
