2001 Chevrolet Impala

PostPosted: Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:18 pm    Post subject:  Under the mat Reply with quote

Hey everyone,
I have a 2001 Impala (Police Edition) with the bucket seats. I bought an aftermarket console for between the seats and I want to fasten it to the floor.

Can anyone tell me if there is any thing important under the floor mat in that area of the car? IE: wiring.

Thanks

This the floor of my '03 9c1.
As you can see, there isn't much, just one small loom crossing the tunnel.
The black part on the tunnel's front is the tube that leads a/c air to the rear sitting person's feet.
It's just plastic ...

To affix the console I would use brackets that go under the inner seat rail bolts:

That's the airbag module.
Always hook off the battery before you (dis)connect it ... Wink

That big black metal thing over the tunnel in the second pic... I've seen it on ebay. It makes it possible for the 9c1 and 9c3 to have stuff mounted there, such as your console(if you don't want to drill through the tunnel) and all the cop equipment that those cops like so much.

Yeah, that's a base or tunnel plate.
No drilling required ... Wink

Yep. Wink

It's a 9c1, but it's not an original NY squad.
It's a former Airforce Security unit I found on ebay, and I cloned it to a NYPD unit on every little detail (removing the spot light, decals, stickers etc ...) Rolling Eyes Wink
It's officially registrated and I use it every day (without siren & lights, of course) b/c it's my only vehicle.

Take a look:

And that's my summer ride ... Cool Laughing

For sure. Laughing
Although German squads look totally different, every time drivers get aware of me in their rear view mirror they suddently obey the speed limit, take away their cell phones and fasten the seat belt ...
Laughing Laughing

Driving an US police car in Germany ?
Priceless ! Mr. Green

Hey, I'm German !
We do everthing 101%. Laughing

For building up the typical V-shaped NYPD push bar I "forced" a friend of mine to measure the original length and high when he was on vacation in NY during my Impala's build up.
So he kneeled down in front of a NYPD Impala somewhere Downtown Manhattan,
pulled out his rule, measured the push bar and made a sketch. Shocked
I'm sure the cops would have busted him if they would have seen him ... Laughing

The same evening he faxed the sketch to Germany so that I could keep on working the next morning ... Dance Cool

Done ! Wink
