why not pick up a <20$ one from Radioshack? The adjustable (30-15w) is pretty good, the rest are iffy.

I've had nothing but bad luck with Radioshack soldering irons. I generally end up having to buy a new one every other project. I don't use them enough to need anything better.

I'm thinking I might give a RS iron a whirl for this project. Although I think I might be getting a new Weller this spring finally.
