Just a quick thread showing my new ride, nothing fancy.

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Z56 Police package.ex-Michigan State Police.
134K miles. This truck is very solid for its age and were it came from.Underhood is clean and i can see NO leaks of any kind.Even the oil pan is clean, all hoses are clean and free of gunk/oil,which is pretty rare for a high milage police vehicle....Runs strong, quiet and smooth.Tranny shifts great and goes right into gear. The coolent looks damn near like bran new.

This Tahoe had many front end parts replaced recently which is a real nice plus, also everything works! Oh also has remote start and keyless entry.

A few quick pix i took in my driveway just now.

My only problem is that the front ends are so ugly. You need to convert it to the other style with the four head lights. Other than that it looks pretty good. Any plans for it?

Thanks guys Smile

Yes it has the HD 4L60E transmission.

I kinda like the front end so i will leave it.Some Z56 tahoe's did come with the other front style. They were the "Delux" package police tahoes.

I have many plans for it,first i have to go through everything and make sure everything is up to snuff. Then i will throw a few mods at it.The first mod i did was a replacement rear end.Its a G80 Posi w/ GU6 3.42 gears (stock were 3.08's).

Nice choice on the rear end Very Happy . But ya gotta watch those 4L60's they are famous for going bad. good part is they are cheap to rebuild.

Oh sorry forgot about your motor question.Yes it has the Vortec 5.7L 350 V8.Stock ratings are 255hp-330tq.

Yeah i know about the 4L60E tranny's.Im gonna have a good tranny service done.I am also having the PCM reprogrammed as well. This should firm up the shifts which is better for the trans.I was gonna have a shift kit added as well BUT having a posi in the winter time i don't think thats a real good idea, esp if the wife is driving it Laughing I think the "shift enhancement" through the PCM should be good enough,

I have a 3.73 G80 Posi on my Monte. Only one wheel spins when you break em loose.

Im with shagn, the quad lights look better and last longer too, they are glass, and dont sweat like the others, my brother got his at a junkyard out of a pickup.

this is his 96

Here is a good site www.fullsizechevy.com
If your looking for a tune, blackbear performance is on that website and has great tunes, on sale till the end of the year I believe

He took out all the codes, the torque management, and set it up for his cam combo, runs great.
