2001 Impala LS.
I bought some blades today thinking I could do it. I've been out in my driveway for about an hour wrestling with this damn thing. I hacked at it with a screw driver and whatever "tab" was supposed to release the blade is now obliterated. Can somebody please help me? The old blades were bosch. I looked through the owners manual and it doesnt have any pictures or step by step instructions. I watched about 10 videos on youtube about how to change blades and they didn't work. Need help! If somebody could explain how I was supposed to do it the right way I'm sure I can do the other one right and fix the problem with the one I tried to do and broke. Thanks!!

You just push the tab, then slide the blade and bracket assembly towards the pivot point of the arm.

Just got it done. Actually, It didn't occur to me to check NAIOA how to's in tech articles. That had a good pic. I wasn't pushing down on the tab and down on the blade at the same time. I just finished it though. Amazing how simple things are once I get it figured out. The second one took me about one minute. oh btw replaced with bosch "evolution" it's some of those ones that contour to the windshield. Got them at Strauss auto buy one get one free with mail in rebate so I baid like 36 up front but should get 18 back in the mail. Adds up to a good deal- getting top of the line blades for cheaper than the store brand. Just letting you know. Thanks for the quick response though. Good night.

If you don't have a Haynes manual, its a great investment.

I'll have to check out that how to article here. I got one Rain-X blade on ( old blade froze and broke off) so I'll try the other.

I had bosch blades before I replaced them last night, and from what I gather their are many different types of blades out there. However, try this. When you pull the arm away from the windshield, tilt the whole blade assembly towards the front of the car so it's almost parallel with the ground. Next push the area where the car wiper arm attaches to the blade on the side that is towards the front of the car. While pressing down in that area push the blade assembly down towards the ground. You must push the tab in and push the blade towards the ground at the same time.... I know it was a bitch to do yesterday, look in the HQ tech articles for the wiper change artice. It was a help.

good luck man.
