I bought my 2005 Impala 3.4L with 33k miles 3 yrs ago. Traded an 88 Celebrity for it~ that almost killed me. Absolutely fell in love with it the impala's handling and power. Never had an issue with it. 2 months ago I bought a salvaged 06 Impala SS and in the works of transferring the engine, trans and so far- the dash interior.
Also bought a battered 2000 Impala 9C1 with 138k miles. Fixed it up a bit and now it runs excellent. It's my DD until my base sleeper project is complete. Love the 00-05 body design, but my next car will proly be a ricer.

Just out of curiosity, how do you plan to overcome the fact that the LS4 ECM/TCM won't talk to the 00-05 Impala's BCM?
You could always rip ALL electronics out of the car. Re-wire all the necessities of getting the car to run, (which probably includes a bcm from the ls4 car.) and just have a LOT of extra wires that wouldn't connect to anything.
hate to be a downer, but were all thinking it.
Probably won't work without time and money. and I mean A LOT of TIME.
Literally EVERY ELECTRONIC DEVICE in the car would have to be rewired.
Sold the Impala! Bought a 03 Vue 5 speed stick, then bought a 95 vert! Engine Swapping! (Again!) L67!
this would probably take a genius but couldnt you just program a transfer computer? something that would take what the ecm/tcm says and convert it so that the bcm reads it as if it was coming from the normal pcm?
or maybe (now this is without understanding how the two play with each other) separate them and let the ls4 computer run the engine and the bcm run the body. can they be isolated? maybe some kind of device that tricks them both into thinking all is normal when really it isnt. kinda like making them into a split brain patient
meh just thoughts...smarter people feel free to take them and explain y they dont work lol
It's just like pulling out. It's very tricky and isnt an exact science, but sometimes you just know.
I can always tell when Wedebrook is around. Smells like sex and shame in here.
Welcome! If you are indeed looking at an LS4 swap, keep up posted on your progress... there have been a lot of people suggesting it and a lot of naysaying going on, but if you have the time and skill to do a good job of it, it'd be pretty awesome
