I'lll try and make this easy to understand... PCM stands for "Powertrain Control Moduele". You can think of it as the brain of your car. It is very rare that in an Impala that a PCM needs replacing. Usually the problem is the BCM or "Body Control Moduele". I like to think of it as the BCM controls almost all of the electrical system such as your lights and door locks.

I'm not 100% on this but I believe every Impala will have the Passlock system. Which is the security system of your vehicle. Turn the key to the On position and the battery/security light should flash back and fourth.

When locking the car, having the horn beep is a feature. I didn't know if it was supposed to do that either when I bought the car because I knew most GM's did it, but not mine for some reason. If you have your owners manual, there should be a page that tells you how to turn that on or off using the radio controls.

A bad BCM can trigger all sorts of electrical problems. When mine went the interior accessories wouldn't power down with the car. Another member lost power locks. Sometimes the service traction soon light/traction control lights turn on for no reason.
